I know what it feels like to step into leadership unprepared for what it really requires…to move quickly, make decisions, and support others, while trying to figure it out myself.

I was often promoted because I performed well, built strong relationships, and people trusted me to complete the task. Sure, I was confident in these areas because I had experience.

​

As I moved up in my career, so did the number of people who counted on me. I hadn’t been cultivated to lead others but I was expected to do so with the same level of confidence. However, without experience to build confidence, I found myself 'failing up' the professional ladder.

​

I thought this was just my story, but over time, I began to see the pattern of people stepping into leadership without preparation or support, and the impact it has on their confidence, effectiveness, and mental health.

​

With two decades of leading teams across corporate, nonprofit, and education, here’s what I know: growth doesn’t happen because someone is capable. It happens when someone is cultivated.
